History of Joe White & Kerami

riginally Joe White brought his mother to Marysville for a holiday and stayed at the old Kerami Guest House on Woods Point Road.

He fell in love with Marysville and purchased land from Elizabeth Glover and built 'Wandsworth House" now known as Kerami Guest House.

The house was built as a two storey holiday house in 1920 by the Cuzens Bros. and the third storey was added in the 1930's.

oe White donated money to the local tourist association to purchase land now known as Gallipoli Park in Marysville.

Gallipoli Park was named after Joe White's brother Alec White who died at Gallipoli on 7th August 1915. Joe was president of the Marysville football, cricket and tennis clubs.

Wandsworth House was sold to Alan Lubby in 1961 who had been Joe's nextdoor neighbour in Brighton.

he Lubby's used the house as a private home and established a nursery business on the property.

In 1967 the house was sold to Merle and Lewis Potter who converted the top floor into two rental flats and the garage/laundry into a self-contained bungalow.

he house was owned by a lawyer for a short time. During this time a large tree fell through the entrance of the house and the staircase had to be rebuilt.

Janet and Denis Wills purchased the house in approximately 1990 and began the process of turning it into a Bed & Breakfast called Kerami Guest House.

imon Hudson and Phillip White purchased Kerami Guest House in 2006 and continue to run this historic showpiece as a Guest House.
