Cathedral Range State Park
Take a drive through these ancient formations and be amazed at the stunning views even from your car. Walk to the Farmyard and along the Razorback or to Cathedral Peak for an exhilarating experience and unforgettable 360 degrees views. www.parkweb.vic.gov.au ( ...select Cathedral Range State Park).

Yarra Ranges National Park - Marysville State Forest

Steavenson Falls - Scenic Reserve and Forest Walks
These are the largest of 14 waterfalls in the region. Take the 5 minute drive to the Falls and then only a 300 metre walk from the car park to see the picturesque falls dropping 83 metres, or meander along the Treefern Gully Walking track from behind the Marysville Visitor Information Centre…a 50 min walk each way. Flowing from a natural spring, these Falls are wonderful all year, and with good rains these Falls are floodlit at night.

Around the District townships there are beautiful short and longer walks. Walk by a river, walk through the bush, see a lyrebird, inhale the eucalypt filled air…you will return refreshed and ready for a hearty meal in one of the District’s restaurants or café’s.

Keppels Lookout

Go there yourself and marvel at the spectacular scenery across the valley to the Cathedrals and beyond.

A 15 minute drive on a tourist gravel road takes you from Lyell St in Marysville to the mountain top. From Keppels Lookout there are easy walks along the ridge to other lookouts.

Yarra Ranges National Park - Lady Talbot Drive

One of the most scenic drives you can find. An easy gravel road takes you 20 minutes through beautiful bush and mountain scenery beside the Taggerty River, then walk the Phantom Falls, Keppel Falls, Meeting of the Waters and the unique Myrtle Beeches Rainforest Walk. A couple of hours spent in this area is one of the prettiest you will see in Australia. Four wheel drive vehicles will enjoy travelling further to Mt Margaret or to the end of Lady Talbot Drive, connecting with the Buxton Road or through the Cathedral Ranges.

Yarra Ranges National Park - Cambarville

Take a drive 20 minutes up the Woods Point Rd, past the Lake Mountain turnoff, and explore the Cambarville area. This region has some of the tallest old growth Mountain Ash forests of Australia. Apart from the walks to the Big Tree and scenic Cora Lynn Falls, walk through the Big Culvert, a fascinating moss covered granite arch built when miners travelled to the gold fields at Woods Point.

Lake Mountain Alpine Resort

No visit to Marysville & District is complete without a trip to Lake Mountain… in all seasons. Just a 25 minute drive from Marysville, Lake Mountain classes itself as Australia’s premier Cross-Country Ski Destination with Winter fun activities for all age groups. In Spring and Summer, the wild flowers are truly amazing. Walk the ski trails or the Summit walk and escape the heat and smog of the city.

Lake Eildon National Park

Follow the Maroondah Highway to Taggerty, turn right and head to Lake Eildon for a superb day out. Just a 40 minute drive takes you into an area with over 27,000 ha of forest and mountain scenery. Drive up Mt Pinniger for breathtaking views over the Lake and across to Mt Buller. Drive or walk around the Lake area and delight in the peace and tranquility of this seeming remote wilderness.
Fishing is very popular all year in the Pondage area below the Lake.
Visit the Snobs Creek Falls, on the left hand side 6kms out of Eildon on your return journey.   www.parkweb.vic.gov.au/resources05/05_0362.pdf
